Gameweek 6 was a setback for most FPL managers as the average points total was just 43. In this article, we look at 4 players who have low ownership but could potentially help boost your ranking.
Christensen (Chelsea – Defender – £5m) vs SOU (H)
Chelsea have conceded just 2 goals so far this season in 6 games (2nd best in the league). They have a favourable run of games in the upcoming weeks – SOU (H), BRE (A), NOR (H), NEW (A), & and BUR (H). Andreas Christensen’s performances have improved under Thomas Tuchel and we expect him to start most of the upcoming games.
So far in 5 starts, he has delivered 3 Clean Sheets. With a season point tally of 22 so far and a modest price of £5m, the Danish centre-back offers great value. Current ownership is 3.6%.
Mbeumo (Brentford – Midfielder – £5.5m) vs WHU (A)
Mbeumo’s partnership with Toney makes the Bees an exciting team to watch. While he has only scored 1 goal so far, he has proved to be a huge goal threat. So far in 6 games, he has made 13 attempts on goal, of which 9 were from inside the box. He has also managed to create 8 chances for his teammates.
He has an xG of 2.41 (5th highest among Midfielders) which is very good for a player of his price. We back him to put on a solid performance against West ham. Current ownership is just 0.9%.
Wood (Burnely – Forward – £6.8m) vs NOR (H)
A home game against bottom-of-the-table side Norwich may just prove to be the catalyst that the New Zealand international would need to get his season up and running. He has started the 2021-22 campaign slowly and has scored just 1 goal so far. However, he can exploit Norwich’s poor defence. The Canaries boast the poorest defensive record in the league, conceding 16 goals and 20 big chances which is more than any other side.
Wood enjoys playing against Norwich and has 6 goals against them in 7 games across competitions. He has shown glimpses of his threat this season as well. So far in 6 games, he has made 12 attempts on goal, 10 from inside the box, and 5 on target. He has also managed to create 5 chances for his team. Current ownership is 1.6%.
Rodrigo (Leeds United – Forward £6.3m) vs WAT (H)
With Bamford seemingly out, Rodrigo may be a decent differential if he plays in the advanced striker role. So far in 5 appearances, he has created 7 chances and 1 big chance for his teammates. He has made 7 attempts on goal, 3 from inside the box, and 4 on target.
While those are not impressive numbers, he sure can improve on them in the coming weeks. Leeds have heavily underperformed so far this term, but we back them to find some form in the upcoming weeks with a decent run of games – WAT (H), SOU (A), WOL (H), & NOR (A). Current ownership is 1.1%.
*Ownership percentage is as on October 1, 2021 at the time of writing the article.
