Here we are! 37 Gameweeks and 10 months later and the finale of the season is upon us. There are three interesting narratives going into the final day of the season. Man City vs Liverpool for the PL title; Spurs vs Arsenal for 4th place and Champions League football and Leeds vs Burnley for PL survival. The most interesting focus is the title fight. The two sides have pushed each other to the final day of the season like they did in 2018/19, with City holding a one-point lead again. The narratives are interesting. Steven Gerrard and Phillippe Coutinho hoping to spoil the party on behalf of their old club, while current City player Jack Grealish has the chance to win the title against his old side. GW37 had an average of 43 points. Usually, the final GW is about managers doing what they can to win mini-leagues and cups. If there are chips available, use them wisely but otherwise, making transfers to get one or two of this week’s picks will be beneficial as all players have something worthwhile to fight for this season.

Let’s take a look at the final week’s picks, previewing their form and the season and previewing their form going into the last game of the season.
1. Kevin De Bruyne – £12.1m (MID); 16.9% ownership

GW38 preview – Aston Villa (H)
KDB is Man City’s biggest superstar and the most important player in City’s attacking potency. With this being the final game of the season for Man City, and with so much at stake, KDB is bound to start to try and dominate the midfield and get on the scoresheet or provide assists from deep and from dead-ball situations. He has 15 goals and seven assists with 190 FPL points so far this season.
2. Joel Matip – £5.2m (DEF); 9.3% ownership
GW37 review – 11 points (90 minutes, one goal, 3BPS)
GW38 preview – Wolves (H)
Joel Matip is on a bit of a goalscoring streak having netted two in his last two games. The big defender is likely to play as I doubt Virgil Van Dijk (£6.8m) will be risked ahead of the Champions League final. Matip has been so key to the Liverpool defence this season and they know they have a big task on their hands as they need all 3 points to stand any chance of winning the title. Matip has three goals, 17 clean sheets and 163 FPL points this season.
3. Heung-Min Son – 11.2m (MID); 33.2% ownership

GW38 preview – Norwich (A)
On paper, Spurs have an easy fixture playing already-relegated Norwich, but crazier things have happened and they will be wary of the fact that a slip up means they will not get Champions League football next season. Son has been on an absolute tear this season and has the chance to finish as the overall top FPL scorer this season. The South Korean has 21 goals, 10 assists and 246 FPL points this season.
4. Bukayo Saka – £6.7m (MID); 29.0% ownership

GW38 preview – Everton (H)
Saka has taken great strides since last season and overcame great personal heartbreak after his penalty miss in the Euro final. A key component to Arsenal’s attacking prowess and arguably one of the best players across the entire league. Arsenal need to win to ensure any chance of securing Champions League football and Saka will be key to that. He has 11 goals, eight assists and 174 FPL points this season.
5. Raphinha – £6.3m (MID); 11.5% ownership

GW38 preview – Brentford (A)
Raphinha is arguably the biggest reason that Leeds are still in with a chance of survival going into the last day of the season. The Brazilian has carried the Leeds attack on his back and, should Leeds survive, they will bounce back nicely next season with a full squad for Jesse Marsch to choose from. His form has dipped of late but he always remains a threat and has 10 goals, four assists and 136 FPL points this season.
6. Nick Pope – £5.3m (GK); 3.5% ownership
GW37 review – 5 points (90 minutes, eight saves, 1BPS)
GW38 preview – Newcastle (H)
Despite Newcastle’s great form of late, Burnley are notoriously strong defensively and despite sacking Sean Dyche, have given themselves a great chance of survival. A win guarantees survival although, at the worst, all they have to do is match Leeds’ result. Pope will need to be on top form to stop a Newcastle team who have aspirations of finishing in the top 10 this season. Pope has nine clean sheets and 128 FPL points this season.
