The international break is over and the Gameweek deadline is close. We are now approaching the busiest period of the season with a lot of games and some high-octane drama expected in these upcoming Gameweeks. In this article, we bring to you 4 players that are slightly risky but can be highly rewarding. Here is our list of GW12 Differentials to help improve your rank.
Emerson Royal (Spurs – Defender – £4.9m) vs LEE (H)
The arrival of Antonio Conte as head coach has boosted the fantasy prospects of Tottenham’s defenders. In his first league game in charge, Spurs picked up a clean sheet with a goalless draw at Everton. Summer signing Emerson has been used as a wing-back under Conte in the first 2 games. He has shown glimpses of his attacking potential so far this season but hasn’t made a telling contribution yet.
So far in 8 appearances (7 starts), he has created 4 chances for his team and managed 2 shots on target from inside the box. While those are not very attractive numbers, the prospect of him playing in an advanced role, clean sheet potential of Conte’s teams, and his low price make him a very good prospect. In 79 appearances for his previous club Real Betis, the young Brazilian scored 5 goals and provided 10 assists. Spurs upcoming games – LEE (H), BUR (A), BRE (H), NOR (H) & BHA (A). With an ownership of just 0.4%, Emerson is a solid differential at the back.
Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace – Midfielder – £7.7m) vs BUR (A)
The Crystal Palace attacker is playing more freely this season with other players in the team like Gallagher, Edouard, etc stepping up their game. So far in 10 appearances (9 starts), Zaha has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist. He has also been entrusted with the spot-kick duty to further enhance his value as an FPL asset. He has scored 2 goals in his last 2 games against Man City and Wolves.
So far this season, he has made 17 attempts on goal, 11 from inside the box, and 6 on target. He has also managed to create 13 chances for his team. Zaha faces a Burnley side who have been poor at the back this season. They have an xGC of 18.14 (Expected goals conceded), with only Newcastle and Norwich having a worse xGC. We back Zaha to do well at Turf Moor. Current ownership is 7.8%.
Adam Armstrong (Southampton – Forward – £5.9m) vs NOR (A)
Continuing with the trend of targeting Norwich, we feel the Saints forward is expected to deliver a solid performance in GW12. In his last 2 games, Armstrong has produced 1 goal and 1 assist. Overall, in 10 appearances (9 starts) he has 2 goals and 2 assists to his name this season.
Armstrong’s goal threat is evident from his 29 attempts on goal (2nd highest among forwards), 16 shots from inside the box, and 8 shots on target. He has also managed to create 8 chances for his team. Norwich have conceded the most goals (26) so far this season with an xGC of 21.36 (only behind Newcastle). With an ownership of 3.6%, Armstrong can prove to be a solid differential option.
Callum Wilson (Newcastle – Forward – £7.4m) vs BRE (H)
Newcastle striker Wilson would be relishing at the prospect of playing under his former boss Eddie Howe who has taken over the reins at St James’ Park. Wilson is Newcastle’s top scorer despite missing a few games through injury. He has managed to score 4 goals in 7 appearances. In these games, he has made 15 attempts on goal, 12 from inside the box, and 6 on target. He has also managed to create 3 chances for his team.
Apart from Arsenal (Away), Newcastle face Brentford, Norwich, and Burnley at home which makes Wilson hard to overlook. Current ownership is 2.7%.
*Ownership percentage is as on November 19, 2021, at the time of writing the article.
