The defense this season has been the key to green arrows and now another deadline is upon us. We are now approaching the busiest period of the season with a lot of games and some odd benching’s expected in these upcoming Gameweeks. In this article, we bring you 4 players that are risky but can be highly rewarding to boost your ranks.
Matthew Cash (Aston Villa – Defender – £5.1m) vs CRY (A)
The arrival of Steven Gerrard as head coach boosted the fantasy potential for the fullbacks. In his first league game in charge, Aston Villa picked up a clean sheet and a win after conceding 8 goals in the last 3 matches. The win also ended Villa’s 5 games losing streak. Aston Villa right-back, Matty Cash had the highest number of penalty area touches among all Aston Villa players (4) in GW12.
So far this season, he has created 3 chances and 1 big chance for his team and managed 5 shots inside the box. He also has the highest number of penalty area touches (19) among all Villa defenders. While not having good chance creation numbers, his quite advanced position along with clean sheet potential make him a very good prospect. With ownership of just 3.7%, under Gerrard, he could be a solid differential at the back.
Maxwell Cornet (Burnley – Midfielder – £6.1m) vs TOT (H)
Burnley has been constantly improving attacking-wise and has scored 9 goals in the last 4 matches. Maxwell Cornet has been the best player for Burnley so far this season scoring 5 goals in 6 starts, while Tottenham are having a difficult season and have been unable to keep their opponents out.
So far this season, Cornet has made 10 attempts on goal, 8 shots from inside the box, and all 8 on target. He has also managed to create 5 chances and 1 big chance for his team. Cornet has the best goal conversion rate among all midfielders (more than 6 appearances) and has been averaging 8.05 points per match. He has been very clinical so far and we back him to do well against Spurs. His Current ownership is 2.4%.
Josh King (Watford – Forward – £5.6m) vs LEI (A)
Watford surprised everyone when they won 4-1 against Manchester United in game week 12 with an extraordinary performance from all the players. They have a favorable fixture against Leicester this week, who are ranked 5th worst for xGC (expected goals conceded) in home games. In the last four games, the stand-out pick, King has produced 4 goals including a hat-trick against Everton in GW9.
His goal threat is evident from his 17 attempts on goal (2nd highest among forwards), 14 shots from inside the box, and 6 shots on target in the last 6 GWs. He also has the highest number of penalty area touches among forwards for the last 6 GWs. With a low ownership of 4.2%, King can prove to be a solid differential option.
Christian Benteke (Crystal Palace – Forward – £6.4m) vs AVL (H)
Christian Benteke has been relishing every moment in the Premier League so far this season. Benteke is Crystal Palace’s top scorer despite missing a few games in between. He has managed to score 4 goals and 1 assist in 8 starts including a brace against Burnley in GW12. This season, he has made 26 attempts on goal, 23 from inside the box, and 8 on target. He has also managed to create 10 chances and 2 big chances for his team.
Apart from Aston Villa (Home), Crystal Palace face Leeds, Everton, Southampton, and Watford in the next 5 fixtures which makes Benteke, a very solid differential option. His current ownership is merely 2.5%.
*Ownership percentage is as of November 26, 2021, at the time of writing the article.
