The last few weeks in FPL have been quite difficult to maneuver, from random fixture postponement due to covid, to FPL website crashing just minutes before the GW19 deadline. We are into the busiest period with just 48 hours in between the GW19 and GW20 deadlines. With a lot of chips in play, gaining rank can be quite difficult. Thus, in this article, we bring you 4 differential picks that can help you boost your rank.
Emerson Royal (Spurs – Defender – £4.9m) vs SOU (A)
The arrival of Antonio Conte as head coach has boosted the fantasy prospects of Tottenham’s defenders. In his last six games in charge, Spurs have picked up 4 clean sheets and 4 wins. Emerson Royale has been playing as a wingback and has shown glimpses of his attacking potential so far this season. In the last 6 GWs, he has 1 assist and 3 clean sheets to his name.
So far in 12 appearances (11 starts) this season, he has created 10 chances and 1 big chance for his team and managed 3 shots from inside the box. While those are not very attractive numbers, the prospect of him playing in an advanced role along with clean sheet potential makes him a very good prospect. With ownership of just 0.5%, Emerson is a good differential at the back.
Lucas Moura (Spurs – Midfielder – £6.4m) vs SOU (A)
Spurs have been in quite good form since Conte’s arrival scoring 12 goals and conceding just 3 goals. Lucas Moura has started 5 games in the last 6 GWs and has 2 goals and 3 assists to his name. He was outstanding against Palace scoring a goal and 2 assists.
In the last 6 GWs, he has 10 goal attempts, 6 shots inside the box, 2 big chances, and 14 penalty area touches. He also created 10 chances and 4 big chances for his team. He faces a Southampton side who haven’t kept a clean sheet in the last 7 GWs and we back Lucas Moura to get a return. Current ownership is 1.9%.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City – Midfielder – £11.9m) vs BRE (A)
Kevin De Bruyne hasn’t had the best of starts this season due to injuries and started just 4 games in the first 10 GWs. Since regaining his full fitness, he has started the last 3 GWs and managed to score 3 goals. He also created the most chances (12) among all midfielders in this period.
His goal threat is evident from his 13 goal attempts, 6 shots inside the box, 5 shots on target, and 12 penalty area touches in his last 3 starts. Man City have scored the most goals in the Premier League this season (50) and another big City win looks very much on the cards, and we back De Bruyne to put on a solid display. Current ownership is 4.0%.
Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea – Forward – £11.5m) vs BHA (H)
The top priority signing for Chelsea in the last transfer window hasn’t performed up to his standards. Before getting an injury in GW8, he scored 3 goals in 7 matches for his team. Since then, he hasn’t started any game but came on as a substitute in 5 matches. In his last match against Villa, he put up a solid performance with 1 goal and 1 assist to his name.
Lukaku is a proven goalscorer and can easily haul in any given match. He faces Brighton who have kept 6 clean sheets this season and conceded 15 goals. Brighton may not be an easy fixture but with Lukaku regaining his full fitness, he will be hungrier for goals and we back him to return. His ownership is 8.5%
*Ownership percentage is as of December 27, 2021, at the time of writing the article.
